Villa Borghese Museum Scavenger Hunt

Updated: Dec 17, 2019

A scavenger hunt for kids featuring the works of Bernini & Caravagio

Located inside the Villa Borghese park lies the Galleria Borghese Museum built in the 17th-century by Cardinal Scipione Borghese as an elaborate party venue. This stunning villa turned museum preserves suburb sculptures and paintings. Tickets and visiting time MUST be booked in advance, visit the website for more information.

One of the highlights includes the sculptures by the 17th-century artist and architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini, who created the Baroque style of sculpture.

Caravaggio's work is also housed at the museum, a leading Italian painter of the late 16th and early 17th centuries who became famous for the intense and unsettling realism of his large-scale religious works. He used live models to stage events of the distant past as if they were taking place in the present day. His dramatic use of lighting inspired Baroque painting as well.

This scavenger hunt for kids focuses on some of the works of Bernini & Caravaggio. You may first want to share this page with your child to introduce them to the artists and Baroque art. The print out scavenger hunt includes a little bit of information about each piece of artwork to bring the art to life and spark interest. I have also included questions about each piece of artwork. Some are subjective, the point is to encourage a discussion about the artwork, not to focus on right or wrong answers.
