Naples, Italy is a port city that brags to be the birthplace of Pizza. It lives under the shadow of the volcano Vesuvius which destroyed the nearby town of Pompeii in 79 AD. The volcanic ash preserved Pompeii which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is one of the top tourist destinations in Italy. One of Pompeii’s most famous mosaics is of a leashed dog with the warning “cave canem,” or beware of the dog.
