A Mom & Child Yoga Retreat in Tuscany, Italy

Guest Post: Time to Heal in Tuscany

We all need a holiday; no one excluded.

Our modern lives are so hectic that at least once a year, we all need that well-deserved break to leave behind the never-ending list of to-dos and refill our drained energies.

This is particularly true when it comes to us moms: the daily burden is so high that carving out a moment to nourish ourselves becomes vital for our sanity!

Funny enough, after a family trip we are very far from being relaxed: planning, packing/unpacking, booking, making sure your kids eat well, keep them safe, remember the passports and the tickets.... most times when we come back home, we need a vacation from the vacation!

Even if the "mom-cation" (i.e., mom vacation) is super trendy on social media, for most of us it's not easy to think of going on vacation on our own - the anxiety of leaving your little one behind can feel so overwhelming, you won't enjoy being away.

To be honest, throughout the year, I always get caught up in the endless chores list. I end up feeling guilty because I'm not present with my daughter as much as I would love to. So my dream holiday involves spending quality time with her and strengthen our bond.

If you are anything like me, you will love MamaMoon Yoga Retreat. MamaMoon is a yoga retreat in Tuscany designed around the needs of moms and their young children (they welcome kids from 0 to 6 years old). It is the perfect opportunity to escape the everyday. Have some me-time while your child is a few steps away, having fun with other kids, and engaging in creative activities.

After the morning yoga practice and the nourishing brunch, you will feel more grounded, aligned, and ready to show up as your best self for your child. Spending time together without thinking about what needs to be done next, simply enjoying being fully in the moment… it’s priceless.

Playtime and engaging laboratories are organized so to make this a memorable experience also for the young guests.

MamaMoon is also a safe space to share, to laugh, to cry, to learn, and to talk about this crazy, emotional, life-changing journey known as motherhood. Who knows? You might even meet friends for life. Meeting like-minded mothers from so many different courses of life can be enlightening. It will definitely make you feel less alone in all your motherhood challenges.

We all understand how self-care should be at the top of our priorities, yet many of us struggle to fit it into our busy lives. At home, we are used to being the person who everyone looks after. At MamaMoon, you will enjoy being cared for. Not thinking about what to wear, what work needs to get done, what to cook for dinner, if there's milk in the fridge, or where you are supposed to be at any given time… you will be free to enjoy every single moment.

MamaMoon is created from mothers for mothers, that is why everything regarding children is highly curated and cared for. The kid's activities are organized so to make the best out of these experiences for them too. They don't provide simple babysitting: playtime and engaging laboratories are organized so to make this a memorable experience also for the young guests. In each situation, they put care, empathic contact, and careful observation to follow the kid's own pace and promote serenity and fun.

The yoga classes are perfect for everyone, experienced yogis and beginners alike as the teacher adapts to whoever is on the mat. If she thinks you need her to, she will stop the flow to go through a pose more in detail or to invite you to adjust your movement to suit your body. We are all of the different proportions, and these differences make different poses either harder or easier.

Yoga isn't about opening up your tight hips or hamstrings (although that helps). It is so much more than that; it's about life off the mat. It's about connections, both emotional and physical. At MamaMoon, we are passionate about creating space for mums to be guided through yoga and inspiring workshops to realize what they really need. Creating space for them to feel like they are held while restoring the connection to their true self, the women and mother they really want to be.

Some mums are instantly open and ready to talk about feelings and what they want from a retreat, while others may not know how to access what they really need. Their aim is to allow them to drop their boundaries, to feel safe, and to heal. Their mission is to give you the chance to have the breakthroughs, the shifts, and “Ah-ha” moments, that will make you return to your life feeling inspired and elevated.

The theme of balance is also at the foundation of the MammaMoon philosophy, as we all are both giving and receiving. The balance in our lives can be very fragile: if we need to be able to look after others – children, parents, siblings, friends – whoever they are – we need to make sure we are well enough ourselves. You learn how to fill your cup and show up for your loved ones as the best version of your self. Once back from this retreat, you will never be the same again.

Here is how a day in this beautiful retreat looks like:
